Robert Ferrara received his training in the Robert Fiance Hair Design Institute, graduating in 1971. One of the most prestigious Beauty Schools in the United States, at the time was owned and operated by Robert’s father since the 1960’s. Respectively all of the Ferrara sons were former graduates. The Ferrara family name is synonymous with Beauty Schools and educational training in Hairdressing and Cosmetology.
Robert Ferrara eventually became an Artistic Director of Vidal Sassoon Salon on Madison Avenue in Manhattan. Many former clients of the VS salon included theatre, stage and screen stars along with the top modeling agencies. Some of these clients included Mia Farrow and her haircut made famous in the movie “Rosemary’s Baby”, Mary Quant synonymous with her makeup line and Raquel Welch.
Trained in the Vidal Sassoon Salon, Robert became a coveted member of the international stylists team. This team traveled throughout the United States and Europe demonstrating the latest in hair trends with Vidal Sassoon’s signature simple geometric “Bauhaus-inspired” hairstyling. Robert Ferrara was a platform artist at The International Beauty Show at the Jacob Jarvis Center while employed at Vidal Sassoon and later for The Robert Fiance Hair Design Institute. Some of the team’s members included Christopher Brooker, Keith Zenobia, Howard Fugler ,Marc Pipino and Hiroshi. Robert Ferrara participated as an artistic stylist in top designer fall and spring runway shows, fashion magazine shoots and has been credited in fashion magazines.
Returning to the Ferrara family business with this experience, Robert Ferrara came full circle. Realizing his passion for teaching and utilizing his knowledge he became an instructor licensed in New York and Florida heading the advanced cutting classes. He was a force in the expansion of the Robert Fiance Hair Design Institute traveling to its many locations in the New York metropolitan area as well as several locations in Florida. With his ties to Vidal Sassoon he promoted the family business by introducing his former colleagues, Vidal Sassoon, John Delaria, Paul Macgregor, Maurice Tidy and Howard Fuglar.
Robert Ferrara is also credited as being the long standing Admission’s Director of The Learning Institute of Beauty Science, a three school operation at his initial time of employment. This establishment became one of the largest beauty schools during Robert’s employment.
He has been an educator for over 35 years in Hairdressing and Cosmetology. Robert Ferrara’s passion is to “continue the Ferrara family tradition of offering the best education in the Hairdressing and Cosmetology Industry.”
